My research covers various topics in civil aviation with the aim to improve the human-computer interaction accross all pilot activities and thus to ultimately enhance pilots' situation awareness.

Research projects

Pilot Eye Gaze and Gesture tracking for Avionics Systems using Unobtrusive Solutions (ongoing)
Summary: The aim of the PEGGASUS project is to analyse the gaze and gesture data of pilots to provide them with seamless interactions in future cockpits.
My contributions: Project planning (incl. writing the project proposal), project management, project realization, and research.
Project partners: CSEM, ETH Zurich (my employer), SERMA Ingenierie, Swiss International Air Lines, Thales. EU funded.


Enhanced flight training program for monitoring aircraft automation (completed)
Summary: As part of this project we recorded the gaze data of pilots in an A320 full flight simulator to utilize them for the development of future training programs.

I gained my first work experience as a student assistant at the German research center for artificial intelligence where I developed intelligent user interfaces. After I acquired my Master in Computer Science at the Saarland University I worked as an IT-consultant in the fields of banking, logistics, and accounting.
